Question:

How do i dive in deep water and then come back up?

i know how to swim, float and jump, but i have never dived in deep water before, and my teacher didnt specificly explain how to come back up. how do i resuface?

  1. oh a pool or an ocean?  pool you can just go up...ocean you have to like go slowly or you will have pressure issues


  2. It depends how deep it is, if you can touch the bottom and it is 10 ft or less just push yourself if it is more that 10 ft go slowly and do breaststroke vertically.

  3. you can go down (decend) normally as you would in a pool, sometimes, depending on how deep you have to clear your ears (valsalva) by holding your nose and blowing gently til you hear a small pop.  since you specifically said Deep, you will more than likely have to do this  until you get to the bottom or your desired depth.  Coming back up (ascend), you should come up at a rate of 30ft per min. to reduce your chances of decompression sickness ( a whole other topic)   Now depending on how deep you will have to stop at certain depths to "off-gas" usually starting at 60ft, then 50ft, 40ft and so on. thats basically it without getting to in detail.  hope this helps.
