  1. Scientific Notation is a way scientist write long numbers so it is easy to fit in a small space.

    Scientific Notation is written in a form  a x 10^b where 'a' is less than 9 but greater than 1. 'b' is basically the number of times you would move the decimal point to get 'a' to be between 1 and 9. If the initial number is less than 1 (or you move the decimal towards the right, then 'b' would be negative.) Vice Versa

    0.000000027 -----> 2.7 x 10^-8

    356 ------------------> 3.56 x 10^2

    47,764--------------> 4.78 x 10^4 (rounded up)*

    0.096----------------> 9.6 x 10^-2

    *rounded because it is shorter, but also correct if you write the whole number.

  2. 2.7x 10 to the -8

    3.56x 10 to the second

    9.6x 10 to the -2

    1)Didn't know how to put the numbers up beside the 10's. count from the decimal to each place number until you get in front of the number 7. You go 8 places 8 times.

    2)put the decimal between the 3 and 5 and count how many places after decimal which is 2

    3)do the same as # 1

    That was hard to explain. Hope that helped!

    ooops missed one! Sorry!

  3. 2.7 * 10 8th power

    3.56 * 10 2nd power

    4.47764 * 10 4th power

    9.6 * 10 -2nd power
