  1. There's a few different ways to do this but they all use basically the same steps.

    1. Open the picture or page you want to use.

    2. Use the rectangle marquee (shift + M) and make a rectangle within the image/page.

    3. Press Q to enter quick mask mode. (The outside edge around your marquee should turn red)

This is where people differ on procedure...

    4. Click Filter>Brush Strokes>Sprayed Strokes or Spatter and play around with the settings (there's a preview of what it will look like in the Brush Strokes window so you can adjust it to what looks good to you). Click ok when you're done.

    5. Press Q to exit quick mask mode.

    6. Invert your selection (Ctrl + Shift + I) and hit backspace or you Delete button. Done.

If you want the outside edge to be black (or any other color) just follow the above steps on a layer above a background in the color of your choosing.

  2. i should know this but sadly for once i dont know D:

  3. Going to answer based on Photoshop 7. Transfer this info over to whatever version of Photoshop you're using.

In the Tools Menu choose the Brush Tool. (Not History Brush) Set it to a Hard Brush. (In the Drop Down menu, when you click on the Down Arrow under Brush, the top sizes are Hard brushes, and the next sizes under them, are the Soft brushes) Size will be dictated by what you need. Now go up to the top header, and where you see MODE, you should see-> Normal, in the box to the right of it. Click on the Down Arrow to the right side of this box. In the Drop Down menu, click on Dissolve.

When you click on the edges of your image, the edges dissolve, looking like your link's image. You have to experiment to get the best results you wish. Sometimes clicking right on the edge, sometimes near it,.....you get the picture. (Maybe a Soft Brush will do better for you. It's all in what you want, and how you experiment to achieve it)

  4. I have the top Photoshop software. I can fix it with the 'Clone Stamp Tool'. but it would be very hard to explain. If you have that tool, blow the photo up BIG and detail it till it's filled in. This is one attempt

  5. I know that Adobe Illustrator has a frame that does the torn-edge. So try searching for frames or effects.

    Hope that helps.
