What kind of camcorder?

MiniDV and Digital8 requires firewire (IEEE1394a, i.LINK and DV are all the same thing. Your computer needs a firewire port; you need to get a firewire cable.

Hard drive and Flash memory requires USB.

DVD based camcorders require a drawer loading DVD drive in your computer and a DVD ripper.
