  1. no

  2. 1. Join co-ops and support local companies.

    2. Walk or ride a bike to as many places as possible.

    3. Plan a time with you and your kids to enjoy the outdoors - have 'outside time,' and stick to it.  Knowledge and experiences begets appreciation.

    4. Shop at a farmer's market, if you have one.

    5. Be conscientious when shopping regarding packaging.  Is the package recyclable? Are the items individually packaged?  More packaging = more waste.

    6. Have a worm bin in your kitchen.  It's very easy and fun to do with kids.

    7. If your kids are small, send them to play groups at local centers that appreciate and teach about the environment.

    8. Read stories about nature to your kids.

    9. If walking isn't possible, carpool with other families.

    10. Turn off lights when you're not using them. It can make a big difference!

  3. im 21 so iv grown up with all the mod cons etc and i do like my internet, as you can see im on here. but wen i eventually have my own house, family etc. id like to go bk to simplicity really. such as having a veg patch and herbs to make 'real' food from scratch rather than eating processed foods all the time. herbal remedies rather than chemical pills etc. recycling as someone else said. i do that now already. id like to use candles as they save electricity and also create more atmosphere. id like and open fire- duno how good that is for the atmosphere lol. no tv's in bedrooms. just enjoying being outdoors more. play with kids more, emphasis on family time rather than them craving the tv/computer etc. you could enjoy family camping, fishing. that sort of things

  4. 1. Start a veggie garden (even if it's only a small one in pots) and let your kids pick their fave things to grow; just don't expect them to do all the work :] Let them reap the reward and allow them to see you do the work happily.

    2. Start a compost pile - if they aren't afraid of worms, opt for a vermaculture compost. It's faster and much cooler to see!

    3. Go hiking, check out birds/animal perserves, visit a zoo, go bird watching with binoculors, watch for shooting stars - basically just get outside with them as much as possible. The Earth will do the rest. :]

    4. Use your recycling bins.

    5. Power down as often as possible (turn off TV, video games, computer etc).

    6. Get crafty! Make new things out of old things - bird feeders out of milk jugs, etc - and let them decorate them; learn to sew or crochet, decopage, anything that works with your hands. Use old materials whenever possible.

    7. Get involved. Donate time, plant trees, go to rallies, sign petitions, or stand out on a busy corner and get others to sign a petition!

    8. Buy used - head to a thrift store for their clothes and give them a few dollars each to get whatever toy they'd like.

    9. Set a good example! Model what you'd like them to learn but try not to force them or nag them to get on board. Just by being excited, showing appreciation for the Eath and for them and setting a good example, they will follow along.

    10. Have fun! They won't want to do anything if it's not fun. So if it's not fun, find a creative way to make it so or do it yourself and save the fun stuff for them. :] There is no point in making it a chore, otherwise they will forever be turned off of it!

  5. 1.  Grow a vegetable garden.

    2.  Keep a compost pile.

    3.  Use less water - don't run water while brushing teeth, use less water for baths, etc.

    4.  Don't waste energy by keeping the fridge door open too long.

    5.  Don't waste food - always plan to use leftovers in inventive ways.

    6.  Recycle as much as you possibly can.

    7.  Shop at thrift stores for clothing and toys, as well as yard sales.

    8.  Use rags to clean with instead of paper towels.

    9.  Use vinegar and water or other homemade cleaning solutions.

    10. Don't throw the bits of soap away; save them and mold them to make new pieces of soap.
