  1. I can offer you this photo resize tool

    http://www.softorbits.com/batch_picture_...

It allows to convert images to grayscale

  2. similar to kim anderson type images,

    with photo editing program ,

~open color image, select parts with lasso tool , invert selection, and desaturate,

~or duplicate layer, change second layer with less saturation, erase parts you want color from lower layers to show through,

~ or open two image color and b&w and select from one and copy, then paste over the other,

    Photofiltre

    Gimp ~photo editor,

    Photoscape : Photo Manipulating Suite,

    ..

  3. For something as small as your examples where the exact color doesn't matter, I would first convert the picture to gray scale and then back to color. Now manually add the color back in with the drawing tools.

For large pictures it requires cutting and pasting.

  4. in photoshop It's all in the layers. Create a layer from the background. Go to effects and turn that layer black and white. Then Choose your eraser and erase the part that you want in color. You are actually erasing the black and white layer in parts and the color layer below is showing through. I'm not sure if you can choose the opacity of the eraser or not to limit how much of the background color bleeds through. if you want you can send me the pic and ill do it for you i know exactly what ur talking about... hope this helps!!
