  1. First click on Tools and then Internet Options. Under General click Clear History.

Then click on Tools, Internet Options, and Content. Under Auto Complete click on Clear Forms and Clear Passwords.

You may also want to clear the Cookies on the General page as well.

This should clear all the history on your computer.

  2. Clearing places from the history

To remove any Web site or specific Web page from the Internet Explorer history list, follow these steps:

    1. Click the History button in Internet Explorer.

The history list appears on the left side of the browser window. Web sites appear as folders. The pages you visit in the site appear as Web page icons beneath the folder.

    2. Right-click any item you want to delete.

    3. Choose Delete from the pop-up menu.

    4. Click Yes in the warning dialog box if you're asked to confirm.

And the offending entry is gone.

Alas, the entry still may appear on the Address drop-down list. If so, try using the Clear List button. (Use your Help wizard if you need it.).

The Ctrl+H key combination can also be used to hide or show the history list.

The number of days the history list keeps track of is initially set to 20. This value can be adjusted, as covered in the section "Disabling history altogether," just ahead in this article.

Removing a history item isn't the same thing as removing an Internet cookie.

    Clearing all the history

People who don't read history are doomed to repeat it. And, why not? Let's just go and make those same mistakes over and over. It builds character, or something like that.

When the entries on the history list appear to be overwhelming, consider zapping them all:

    1. Open the Control Panel's Internet Options icon.

Or, from Internet Explorer, choose Tools --> Internet Options. This step displays the Internet Options dialog box. On the General tab, you can control the history.

    2. Click the Clear History button.

    That removes everything.

Of course, if your spouse or computer partner is astute, they will have recognized that you zapped the history list. If so, be honest: Just tell them that things were in there that you would rather no one else sees. Nothing wrong with that — it happens to everyone.

    Disabling history altogether

If the history list is a complete and utter bother, just get rid of it: On the General tab in the Internet Options dialog box, set the Days to Keep Pages in History option to 0. Click OK.

Although this technique eliminates history tracking for previous days, note that Internet Explorer still keeps track of the history today. So, if you have been somewhere today and you don't want anyone to know about it before midnight, you still have to manually delete the entries, as covered in the section "Clearing places from the history," earlier in this article.

  3. uh oh whacha tryin to hide ;)??

I only know how to clear the history on my internet- and there's a little tab on the top that says History and I click "show in side bar" and click the View and set it as "date and site" and right click on each date, click delete

  4. If you are using Interenet Explorer, click on Tools->Internet Options. In the Internet Options window, click on Delete files button and Clear History button.

  5. Download and install a freeware cleaner. The one I use is called CCleaner. Quote from the publisher on www.download.com:

"CCleaner is a system optimization and privacy tool. It removes unused files from your system - allowing Windows to run faster and freeing up valuable hard disk space. It's fast (normally taking less that a second to run). It cleans: Internet Explorer (Temporary files, URL history, cookies, Autocomplete form history, index.dat); Firefox (Temporary files, URL history, cookies, download history); Windows (Recycle Bin, Recent Documents, Temporary files, and Log files); Registry cleaner (Advanced features to remove unused and old entries, including File Extensions, ActiveX Controls, ClassIDs, ProgIDs, Uninstallers, Shared DLLs, Fonts, Help Files, Application Paths, Icons, Invalid Shortcuts. So comes with a comprehensive backup feature.)"

  6. Click on tools/ Internet options and delete history select to delete all(cookies, web history, etc,)
