How do i explain a misdemeanor battery conviction?

I was arrested for misdemeanor battery for hitting my girlfriend at the time and sentenced to 1 year of domestic violence classes. how do i explain this on a application or enterview?

  1. You don't.It's a misdemeanor and will not be known.


  2. First of all, you're an *** for hitting your gf, but, a misD battery convictions is basically this:

    The battery part, is you actually touched her in a harmful way, it does not mean that you had to actually hurt her, just touched her.

    The misD part means that there was no dangerous weapon used, you did not do it in the commission of a felony, it again just means that you physically with your own body harmed her.

  3. Get a look at your record and see exactly what it says.

    If it says DV, then it is self explanatory.

    If it just says MISD battery, and you are asked about it, you can man up and admit what you did and talk about the things you've done to prevent it from happening again, OR you can lie and mumble something about a stupid bar brawl when you were a kid.

    Probably the best thing to do is find out what you need to do to have it expunged.
