  1. Probably you can't (studios are making it harder and harder to bypass trailers and ads) but it varies by disk.

    Some tricks you can try:

    - Open the tray and put in DVD. Press "menu" or "play" rather than "close" on the remote. This may bypass the default and go to the menu or movie.

    - Put in disk, let start then press "stop" and then press "menu"

    - put in disk and go get coffee. Come back in 5 min when the menu is cycling.

    - mute the sound and read the movie details on the box, ignoring the trailers or ads.

    - watch the movie. Cut us disk and send COD to studio.

There is NO reason why if consumers pay for a disk there should be ads we are forced to watch. Make this point to studios.

  2. You can't on dvd players (that I know of) in a dvdrom in a computer it will let you skip and some software will let you see hidden easter eggs too.

Much like the FBI warning these parts of the disc are not skipped by your player because if the player meets standards it thinks playing these is part of the copy protection system.  It's just a cheap way for movie distributers to maximize their potential audience with dvd sales (they infact force you to pay for a commercial).

  3. Yes, I have the same thing on some of mine.  If the adds your talking about are copy write theft then you cant fast forward them.  If your on about adds for other movies then the menu or title menu should work!
