  1. I don't think its all that normal, since most babies carry some fat....but maybe its not a bad thing. Just feed him more fat

  2. My youngest (now 14 months) dropped from about 50th percentile to 5th percentile in weight between 6 and 12 months.  Like yours, he was a little bundle of muscle/energy and seemed remarkable healthy.  Just to be safe, my doctor monitored him pretty closely and we kept bringing him in for weight checks every few weeks.  At his 12 month checkup, the doctor took some blood to run a few tests to rule out whether there could be something more serious going on.  Thankfully, the tests were negative, and we decided that he may just be an active little guy with a small appetite.

I recommend that you talk to your doctor, if only to get some piece of mind.  She may have nutritional recommendations also.

On my doctor's advice, we ended up supplementing the nursing with whole milk at about 11 months and that seemed to help some "fatten the baby up".  Now he is not nursing anymore, and we try to feed him lots of fatty things like cheese and wholemilk yogurt (OK - I admit that I will not deny the boy a cookie or three if he grunts for it.)  He is still al little guy, but he is gaining at a consistent rate.  Good luck!

  3. i would think that if there was a problem the doctor would tell you so im sure thats just fine. every baby is different.

  4. If you and your husband tend to be on the lean side, this could be genetic. What is your body fat percentage and his? Also if you eat healthy and you see a lot of other kids who eat c**p, it's possible he looks different because he is HEALTHY and they aren't. If he's active too, this could make a big difference. If he's been to a doctor and everything is fine, then he's probably ok. Different human beings have different genetics. I often wonder when I see overly pudgy babies if this is normal, honestly I have seen a few that look like fat, wobbly little blobs! A baby with less fat is probably just unusual these days because of how bad kids eat. On the bright side, maybe some juice, potatoes or other higher calorie foods would help him put weight on if he is indeed unhealthy. When it doubt, ask a doctor! Good luck to you and your son!

  5. Haha.  That sounds like a good thing to me!  My little guy is a butterball.  He's 3 months old and already weighs 15 lbs.  If your son is eating regularly, then he is likely so lean due to his activity.

  6. If his doctor isn't worried and he eats healthy then I wouldn't worry. Don't try to fatten him up.

    Good luck :)

  7. Feed them more fat! :)

But truly, don't worry. As long as he's continuing along the same growth curve from birth, he's fine.

Your pediatrician could tell you about the growth curve, or you could check the CDC growth charts.

  8. If he's still on baby then give him the milk for hungrier baby's. At 10 months he should be eating some solids in his diet, anything like mash or ordinarey meals mushed. Also try him on abiscuitt if you like.

If he can eat normal food then do so as well milk, that isprobablyy why.

  9. welcome to my world . my daughter was huge at birth 8pounds 12 . she started slowing down at 4months . she is the tiniest (i seriously think so) 14 month old i have ever seen . i mean she is off the chart . everybody was worried about her weight and tell me which hospital and doctor i dint take her too . Heck i quit my job because of it i thought it was her daycare  . every week we had 2 or 3 doctors appointments . testes and testes , trial and trial of medecine . trust me she is till like that and i have tried evrything to fatten her up . nope she was ok wearing 3-6 month old clothes ( she still is ) . until now she is still on formula and she breasfed until last month . my hair almost turned gray for not sleeping doing research on the computer . especially since hubby isnt tiny but i am . i finally gave up and she is quite the happy child and terribly energetic . her doctor said either she is going to be an athlet or a supermodel. they even joked once and said . she burns all her calories by running around the house .

nothing i did fatten her up . matter of fact i asked that question here once. http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;... so good luck . until today i buy higher calories food but the last time we went shopping and i tried some 12 month old clothes on her it dropped to the floor so good luck

my resolution : as long as she is happy and growing normally  and not losing weight i am gonna let her be her . it might just be natural
