Question:

How do i feed a newborn kitten?

my dog found a newborn kitten abandoned in a shed. still had the blood on it and everything so i took it in...we went out and got the formula and bottle for it but the bottle didnt have a hole made it in. i made one but im not sure if its too small... and im not sure if the kittens getting anything from it because they drink so little. anybody have any experience with newborn kittens?

  1. If the kitten still had placenta on it, then it most likely will not survive. It probably did not get the required nutrients from its mom.

    You need to get it to a vet ASAP. You can bottle feed them - they eat at least every one to two hours around the clock. So you MUST wake up in the middle of the night to feed the kitten. Also, you must keep it warm and help it go to the bathroom. Normally a mother's l*****g would encourage this, but you will have to improvise. Usually a warm washcloth works well.

    As for the nipple on the bottle - use very sharp scissors and cut off the very tip of it. That should be big enough for the baby.


  2. its fine just feed it with a bottle with the proper formula.
