How do i fill a small pipe with a very low amount of Liquid Nitrogen?

Hi i am looking for places that can fill a small pipe with a very small amount of liquid Nitrogen for a project i am working on.

does anyone know a place. I live in Birmingham, UK.

  1. Make sure the pipe does not shatter due to thermal shock!  Could be very dangerous!


  2. Your local general hospital pathology laboratory (Histopathology department) will use liquid nitrogen. They may let you have some if you tell them exactly what it is for and prove that you know how to handle it safely. You may have to read their SOP (standard operating procedure) and sign a health and safety disclaimer.

    Failing that, the university will also use it, try physics department first. The same conditions relating to use and safety will apply.

    A small pipe full of liquid nitrogen is only going to remain filled for a few seconds at room temperature. Sealing the pipe to keep it in will create a very unstable, potentially explosive, situation.

    I hope you know exactly what you are doing or you risk serious injury to yourself or others.
