How do i fill out the W-4 form if i'm 17 years old, single, and have no dependants?

I'm 17 years old, single, and have no dependants...but dont want to have that much tax taken out off my paycheck because i dont get much money...How do i fill it out...and do i need to fill up the part where it sais..."Personal Allowances Worksheet"?

  1. Single/zero allowances if you are a dependent, which you probably are - otherwise single/one allowance

  3. You do have to fill out a W-4 but if you don't want any taken out then just go EXEMPT. Or claim one.

  4. To keep from owing at the end of the year you can file single & 0 or single & 1.  But welcome to the real world, none of us really want that much tax taken out, but there is no way around it.  It's either pay as you go or pay up when you file your return.
