How do i find a death notice for my grandfather who died in 1940's free?

  1. You'll get better answers if you post this in genealogy.


  2. Go to the public library in the town your grandfather died and read the microfilm newspapers. You will have to pay to print though.

  3. Go to the library and see if they have the newspaper on microfilm or something. Then print it off there. (This might cost around 15 cents).

  4. contact the archives of the newspaer in the area your grandfather died in. Also if you don't have the date contact the vital statistics in the county
