I want to have a career with horses, i love horses to death and im willin to do what it takes to learn to train/break horses, or whatever, ive looked at being a vet but i would rather work primarily with horses....and ive also looked at bein a horse trainer which i would love to do but i dont know if theres any oppertunities in georgia for that, i dont want to breed them, although i would if i had to, and i also dont want to sell anything, cause thats not really workin with horses... but i want to work with them and learn all i can about them, i want to spend my life workin with horses....whats a good career that would be an enjoyable one as well as pay good?

  1. Hi Rebel,

If you are interested in working with horses, you might look into farrier work.  In this line of work you can get into training, hoof care, and general horse care.  If you get RFDTV they have many good shows on horse gentling instead of breaking.  I have used the techniques they have on there.  Yesterday, one of my Mustangs (yes, from the open range) was lying in the field.   up to her to make sure she was alright.  She didn't get up.  She opened one eye half-way and looked at me then layed her head back down.  I was concerned because horses don't normally trust humans to that point.  I got her up and found she was alright.  At my place are four mustangs that come when called and will follow you like a puppy dog.

    Some good trainers:

    Clinton Anderson

    Monty Roberts

    John Lyons

  2. You could be a horse trainer since youd want to do that.

And if you had to, you could move out of Georgia to get that job. Theres always opportunities at places you havent been yet. You can also be a riding instructor and have your own barn or stables, or maybe even be a horse groomer.
