  1. If you need help check out http://www.pchelpdoc.com

There is tons of help on there for free.

    Good Luck.

  2. laptops cannot have the cpu removed, like quite a few other components

  3. First you need to accept that it might not be possible (if it's soldered in) and that even if it is possible the CPU is only likely to be socketed to make things easier for the manufacturer, not to allow you to upgrade it.

Now given that Dell sells a lot of different configurations I'd expect them to be more likely to not solder the CPU to the motherboard and to instead have a socket but even then you've got to find out what CPU's can be used in the laptop you've got (the BIOS will only allow you to use specific CPU's that have been tested by the manufacturer as being within the capability of the laptops cooling system so you'll probably need to update the BIOS as well as find out what CPU's that laptop was actually sold with as those are the only ones that'll work).

The performance gain you can get is unlikely to be worth the hassle (assuming you'd even notice it, I doubt that you actually need a faster CPU).

  4. Laptops almost always have soldiered on CPUs to save space, so you cannot upgrade them.
