  1. -1/2

  2. 6-3c=c+8

    isolate c:

    -3c-c=-6+8

    -4c=2

    divide -4 on both sides

    c= -1/2

  3. 6 = c + 8 + 3c

    6 = 4c + 8

    6-8 = 4c

    -2 = 4c

    -2 / 4= c

    ie c = -2 /4

  4. 6-3c = c+8

    bring the c's to the same side

    6-3c -c = c+8 -c

    (you can add the same things on both sides of the '='-sign)

    6-4c = c-c+8

    6-4c = 8

    6-4c + 4c = 8 + 4c

    6 = 8+4c

    6-8 = 8+4c - 8

    -2 = 4c

    -2/4 = 4c/4

    -2/4 = c

  5. add 3c to BOTH sides

    6 -3c + 3c = c + 8 + 3c

    =>   6 = 4c + 8

    now, subtract 8 from BOTH sides

    6 - 8 = 4c + 8 - 8

    =>  -2 = 4c

    now, clearly c = - 1/2

    Can you see how to do these now?

    :-)

  6. First, you have to get the variables on the left side of the equation and all the constants on the right side of the equation using the addition and subtraction properties of equality.

    6 - 3c = c + 8

    6 - 6 - 3c = c + 8 - 6

    - 3c = c + 2

    - 3c - c = c - c + 2

    - 4c = 2

    Use the division property of equality to remove the coefficient of c.

    -4c/- 4 = 2/- 4

    c = -2/4 or -1/2

    There you go. Hoped that helped.

  7. 1) add 3c to the right side, subtract 8 to the left side

        -2=4c or 4c= -2

    2) divide 4 by both sides

        c= -2/4

    3) simplify

        c = -1/2
