just found out my father passed away in 2003. Shouldn't I have been notified?

  1. Why were you not notified? Did he have a second family? Who took care of his funeral? Who took care of him during his last days? I am guessing that they did not know how to reach you OR they thought you would not help financially anyways.

Notified? Did they have a valid reason not to?

Try calling up the local civil registrar of the province/municipality where your father passed away and find out the details. It would be easier to find out from your relatives who took care of his burial if you are in speaking terms.**

  2. Probably.  But how?

  3. Notified by whom?  It would seem that's your family's job.  You can try the NSO and see if they have a death certificate.  That should list the place of burial.

  4. The best way is to contact your father's living relatives if you know them. I don't know why you haven't been notified of his death... maybe requesting his birth/death certificate from the NSO or the Municipal's Office where he was located before his death can give you info of who's who to contact in the family. Here's the NSO website... hope that will help.
