How do i find my clean-out plug on the outside of my house.?

  1. look in the house and follow the drain pipes from the shower or toilet out to the main line or septic tank, the cleanout may be inside where it exits the foundation, if all else fails, find the stack vent and search in both directions, from there is should be obvious


  2. some houses do not have 2" c/o.  if you don't see it, it probably doesn't have one or if it's a slab house it may be under the sink in the cabinet.

    as for your mainline c/o, some houses do not install visible 4" c/o plugs either.  most older houses didn't have them available.  i used to cut them in all the time when problems occur.  

    in a slab house, it may be hidden behind a cabinet or in a closet, or behind the toilet.

    why the plumber makes it in an inaccessible place i still haven't figured that out.  they are generally covered with a large cap that can be chrome or painted so as to not be seen and blend in with the wall color.
