  1. You could try

I suspect you won't get far. Most of the Internet genealogy is by and for people in the large, industrialized countries. That isn't fair, but that is how it is.

The LDS web site, above, lets you specify a place. I specified "Dominican Republic", and it said you needed a first and last name. I tried "Juan Garcia", which I understand is like "John Smith" in the USA. I got some hits, some from the DR, some from Cuba, some from Puerto Rico.

You might be able to trace your tree through church records,  although not for free, if you flew there or hired someone to search. I doubt you'll find anything on-line for free.

  2. Unless someone in your family has already researched your family tree, there's nowhere you can "find" it. You have to research it. A good starting place is to join a tree hosting site local to you. Eg for me it's the UK version of Genes Reunited. You will want to choose something that has information about the Dominican Republic there, so perhaps Ancestry is better for you. Start filling out what you know about yourself, parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, siblings, children, spouse etc. Then start trawling through the births, marriages and deaths for those family members, for clues to other peopel in your family. Good luck!

  3. Here's a very strange fact: the Mormon church traces family trees, and not just of Mormons, as an article of their faith.  For a fee, they'll do yours.  They're excellent.

  4. Well are you of African, European, or Asian decent? This is how you can narrow down the search. Next, I would ask older family members, because the best way of knowing of your ancestry is through word of mouth.

Also, I have never found a free website for family tree. Good Luck~
