How do i find my grandmothers children which were adopted out of alabama between the years of 1968-1973?

My Grandmothers name is Ruby Louise Gossett Steeley..her b day is 07-15-1941,they were adopted out of Jackson County Alabama.

  1. I would submit something into the files, like a consent to release YOUR information since you're not listed as a parent. They may not know how or who to contact even after they receive their OBC ( if they even requested it )

    so updating the adoption agency or state file with a consent to your most recent address and contact information could be a good way at contact if the adoptee comes seeking.

    just a guess, i'm much worse at helping people search from the natural families searching side. :(


  2. I'm just trying to be clear on this.  Are you looking, then, for your aunts/uncles who were placed for adoption in Alabama?  What kind of information do you have at this point?

      

    Just a note about Alabama.

    Alabama actually has open records for all adopted adult citizens.  So, if they want their original birth certificates, they can have them.
