How do i find out about working hunter competitions?live in ireland?

have just recently started working hunter competitions and become a member of a working hunter association and would like to know how i find out and enter more competitions outside the association,thanks

  3. Firstly, to those that associate 'Working Hunter Competitions' with 'hunting' and all that goes with it are wrong! A Working Hunter competition, is basically a course of natural jumps set up in an enclosed space. The horses jump around this course, each rider then does an individual riding display to show off the horses movement through the walk, trot, canter and gallop. The judge will then award marks, best horse and rider win and not a hound or fox in sight!!

    My advice would be to contact your local saddlery shop or feed merchants and ask about local competitions. Also local livery yards or riding schools may know of local competitions, as may your vet or farrier.
