The most common place for malware to be found is in Program Files.

Double click HDD > Program Files and look for programs that are not in folders with .exe on the end.

You do have a Firewall, anti-virus & anti-spyware don't you? Well they will tell you. Run them on a regular basis, and keep them up dated.
