  1. You must first check in the town where he died.  Go to the courthouse and see if his death certificate is available.  Next, go to your local Social Security Office and see how many benefits he left.  Some people don't know that this information is available.  You must have his social security number and prove your kinship to him.  You can also access information from the NATIONAL ARCHIVES which are located in Washington D.C.  The National Archives show place of birth, parents, and other relevant information.  They are put together through the census office.  If your father left some benefits (money) find out if there was a beneficiary.  I know many people's benefits are never collected-- and the family doesn't know about it.  Also call his previous employer or past employers.  They can also give out some information and tell you about his health before he got sick or retired.  Some will, some won't.  Try to speak to his neighbors and any family members who knew him.  You will dig up a lot.

The Mormons also have geneology records from a long time ago.  They specialize in this and have a great deal of information.  Their headquarters are in Salt Lake City, Utah.

I hope you will find some good information and most of all, you will be surprised with a little digging how much you can uncover-- Toni D. ( a senior lady)

  2. What Kind of info are you looking for? personal? What he died of? Have you got a copy of the Death Certificate?

It would be easier to help if you said what type of infor you want then could suggest places for you to try looking.

  3. UK answer.

You would need to apply here for the death certificate for your dad,

    http://www.gro-scotland.gov.uk/

I don't know where you are asking this question from I just assumed you aren't actually living in Glasgow, obviously if you are then you could get the death certificate from the register office where the death was registered.

There wont be any information re: your dads passing any where on line, no details of his last illness or anything like that, that is why you have been given this information.

    Hope this helps.
