  1. Which operating system have you got, is it XP or Vista.

Firstly you should perform a DISK CLEANUP, this removes all temporary internet folders, files and suchlike which you don't need. Delete them once its done. You should also DE-FRAGMENT your Hard Drive. This could take a few minutes to hours & hours, depending on how old your system is, how many programs you have.

You should also delete any programs that you do not use, including Manufacture as well as your own ones.

Theres a little bit to get you going, hope it helps.

Deleting whatevers is your Recycle Bin will also free up a lot of space.

  2. alt ctrl ,delete then processes or if u want somthing really good download Process Explorer from this web site http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysin...

  3. Open the task manager ctrl + alt + del or right click on task bar then press task manager, then press the processes tab and look and the applications tab and look.

    Hope this helps.

  4. Start>run/search> type in "msconfig" and select "startup". You can disable programs you don't need, or even all of them. If you don't know what it is, it's safe to uncheck it.

Start>run/search> type in "services.msc" and look at services that you may not want running. Note: If you don't know what it is, don't touch it. Only disable what you know you don't want.

  5. Go to programmes click on run type in msconfig go to services deselect all go to start up deselect all then go through then and tic the boxes

    windows audio

    dhcp

    event log

    windows installer

    network connection

    plug&play

    2 remotes

    shell hardware det

    themes

    windows management

these settings should speed your computer up if you need any of the others you can always go back for another go

  6. Start > Control Panel > Add or remove programs

That's the only place where you can find all programs that are running now on your PC.
