  1. check your sound card's  brand and go to its website to download driver

or if your card is built in , then go the webtsite of your manufacture's computer , there they have everything for you to download

  2. right click with my computer -properties -hardware - device manager- double click with sound and game controller - if is there a ? (with yellow) right click -update driver -no,not this time -next -install from a list or specific location -next -don't search i will choose... -next-check mark on show compatible hardware - click on this hardware (to make blue) - next - finish. restart your pc . good luck !

go to http://forums.majorgeeks.com/showthread.... it's a zip file , download this file and run . restart.

  3. if it has an exclamation mark on it right click on it and update driver, you can either install the drive from a cd or drivers disk or allow windows to attempt to find it on the web

  4. just let windows find it

delete any  yellow ? and reboot windows.

note: if you have a an onboard sound card as well as a card type, you have to disable the onboard one in device manager first, so that windows can find the added one.

  5. if you cant find the manufacturer's driver cd which comes with the pc then you should check the model of your machine and goto to brand's website to recognize which driver is it and download driver from there

  6. The fastest way would probably be opening your computer's case and seeing for yourself.

The sound card is either integrated with the mobo, in which case just look for a MSI or ASUS text (these are the most common ones) and google the text & the number near it for chipset drivers or it's a PCI soundcard in which case you need to look for the card your speaker wire is connected to and try to find some sort of manufacturer and/or model number and google it for drivers.

  7. Enter dxdiag into the run commands, if your computers sound card is Realtek, download AC'97

  8. NOTE:  I'm using UBUNTU right now, so cant check that what i'm telling you to do is exactly correct, so use it as a guideline only!

+ right click on the unknown device in device manager.

+ Select the device (or similar) tab

+ You should see a string of text with VEN=xxxx and DEV=xxxx in it

+ VEN is the manaufacturer of the device, DEV is the device itself.

    + go to www.pcidatbase.com

+ type in the DEV code into the box labelled Device Search

+ that will bring up the details you need to find which device you have.  Use this information to go to the manufacturers website and download the correct driver.

    Hope this helps?
