How do i find out what tax return form i filed for in the year of 2007? I need to know for my fasfa form.

I filed in 2007 but i dont know what the name of the form that i filed under was. How do i go about finding the name of the tax return that i filed for? I need to know so that i can continue filling out my fasfa application. Please Help me as soon as possible thank you.

You'll need more than just the NAME of the form, you'll need a copy or transcript of it.  If you don't have one, you can get one from the IRS.

Call 1-800-829-1040 and after a lot of prompts you can get to a real person who can give you the data or have it faxed to you.  Another option is to go to the nearest IRS office and wait in line.  They can print you a Record of Account for the tax year.  Good Luck!.

Most likely it was a 1040EZ. That's what most students fill out, unless they're married or have an unusually complicated financial situation.

Knowing which form it was isn't enough for the FAFSA, though. You're going to have to enter some of the numbers from that tax form when you fill out the FAFSA. Didn't you save a copy on your computer? If you didn't, did you fill it out through one of the online tax services? They may still have a copy. If not, you'll have to request the information from the IRS. That will take quite a while.

Next time (and every year) remember to SAVE A COPY OF YOUR TAX RETURN.

This would depend on what means you used to file your return.  If you did it yourself you may be able to go back and print a copy of the return.  If you used a tax preparation service you can call them and they will print a copy for you.  If all else fails you can call the IRS and they will send you as transcript that will have all of the information on it.  Those are hard to read so you may need a little help.  Perhaps you should us a tax professional in the future so they can help you with all of these life issues.
