  1. To check if it's integrated or not the easiest way is to simply look at the back of your computer.  If the monitor cable is connected to a port  along the base of your motherboard (right next to the keyboard, mouse, USB etc) then it's integrated.  If the cable connects off to the side into one of the expansion slots, then you've got a dedicated card.

You can download SIW to find out exactly what it is (and just about everything else about your computer hardware)

DXDIAG doesn't tell you whether your card is integrated or not, although it provides lots of other info.

  2. Look inside your pc where the monitor is plugged into the motherboard. If there is a small metal box there, then you have integrated video. Most pcs come this way. If the monitor plugs into a circuit board (video card), then it's not integrated. Download BelarcAdvisor It will tell you everything about your pc. It's free too. If you buy a video card, go to Newegg.com and Pricewatch.com for best prices and selection.

  3. click the 'start' button, then click the 'run' command, then type in dxdiag and hit enter.

You can see your system specs in detail.
