How do i find tax part from gross amt.?

please advise how to calculate / find tax part from gross amount , if gross amount is 1000 & tax is 8% , if i go in reverse procedure by multiplying 8 , i get the amount , but if i minus it from the gross and calculate 8 % on net amount it does not match with what i did in reverse ,so please advise

I am not sure I have understood the query correctly - please rephrase.

8% of 100 = 920 - you said this was correct.

then you calculate 8% of this 920 which is 73.6 and you add it back you get 993.6.

This is right and your calculations are worng. 8% of 100 cannot be equal to 8% of 920 is it not. Either way you calculate, you need to use 1000 as the figure and not 920.
