How do i find the best high performance hdtv?

People want to rate TV by one or two simple things: LCD vs Plasma, contrast ratio, size, etc.

But there are many more issues that separate great televisions from the others.

My advice: go to the library. Get a stack of Home Theater magazines since last December. Make note of the TV reviews and the "Best of the Year" and "Editors Choice" articles.

Make notes.

Repeat with "The Perfect Vision" and "Widescreen Review" and perhaps "Sound and Vision"

You will start to note the make and model numbers at the top of everyones list.

The Pioneer Kuro is outstanding - but they dont make them anymore. We are all waiting for the Kuro LCD units to arrive.

Sony XBR4 series is the top of the sony line and you wont go wrong with these.  But the magazines will show you the occasional Sharp Aqous, Samsung and even Panasonic that are a cut above the others.

Go to best buy or circuit city and get any Plasma 1080 pixel. Those are the best. JUST DON"T USE A BESTBUY CREDIT CARD OR A CIRCUIT CITY CARD, pay up front (trust me).

The Pioneer Elite is hands down the best television on the planet.  It has a native(not dynamic) contrast ratio of 47,000:1.  It doesn't burn in.  It doesn't have motion blur.  If a black frame is played on it in a completely black room the tv disappears.  

This is the Ferrari of television sets.
