  1. You wear your glasses everyday. Why would you want to order them online when you don't get to try them on? These are on your FACE, it's not like underwear that no one will see. The size of glasses you need depends on your prescription and your pupilary distance (PD). The bridge depends on the width of the bridge of your nose, with metal frames it's not as critical, but in plastic frames if they don't fit your nose correctly, they will never be comfortable. The temple length isn't life and death as long as they are long enough to go far enough behind your ears so we can bend them down to eliminate slippage.

My suggestion to you, go online, check out the styles you like, take notes, then go to your local optometrist office and try on thier styles. If they don't have anything you like, whip out your notes and see if they can order a couple pairs for you to "try on". They may charge you shipping (it's fair, it costs them to have them shipped to them and shipped back if you don't like them) but that way you can try on the styles before you invest your money in them. By purchasing them through your optometrist office you support your community and have someone to go to if there is a problem like you can't see correctly out of your lenses, your lenses scratch, your frame breaks, or you need an adjustment! And this way you will have no regrets with your purchase, you wear your glasses for at least a year, usually longer, make sure you like them and they are high quality so they will last!

As far as shape, it's hard to tell you off your description of round/square. A rectangle shape will take some of the roundness away, a round frame with make your face rounder and less square, try on frames, it's the only way to tell what YOU like and your optician will love to give you advice (well, at least I do....)

  3. when you go to the eye Dr. he puts this thing that looks like a pair of binoculars on your face and that takes the measurements that you are talking about.  I don't think you can do that at home.

  4. Call your ophthalmologist.

He/she should have this info. written down.
