Question:

How do i find war records for my grandfather who served in the UK army 1942-1946 in the 18th field regt. RA?

or does any one know any one else who served in this regt.

My grand father served in India, Burma and at home in England. we have managed to find his service number but not much else

  2. War records for WW2 are not easy to find in comparrison to WW1. A lot of army records (about 60%) were lost in a fire so be prepared for the fact there may not be much to find. Try the links in source section to start you of they are for the national archives and "memory" sites - you never know another soldier who served with your grandfather may have posted something relevant. You can probably find records (if there are any) at the ancestry or find my past sites - see links.
