How do i fit an hd channel into the whole screen?

i have a samsung 32" hdtv. when i tune into a dtv(hd) channel, and the ratio is 16:9, the picture doesnt fit the whole screen. theres black bars on the sides. how do i get it to fit the whole screen?

On the Samsung remote there should be able to stretch to a 16x9 screen. The picture might look a bit distorted because it may be only a 4x3 picture.

Check the remote to see if you can look for something like stretch, Full, etc..

Also, if you have Directv check the remote to change the ratio  You can change the screen size from there as well.

If you are tuning it with cable box, make sure you are set on that end for 16:9. If that doesn't do it make sure your picture settings are for 16:9 on the TV end in the menu. Hope that helps.
