SOmetimes windows xp might do weird stuff, like weird glitches, i usually just do a warm boot when somethign weird happens, but other then that, how can i fix it when its misbehaving? there is the two most important tools, the disk cleanup, and the disk degragmenter. but those iw ould use when the computer is feeling slow and stuff, but when it acts all weird, is it just best to restart it?? thats what i usually do! becasue last time, when the internet was all slow and stuff, and when i logged out of Windows XP, and tried to type my password, it didnt let me, it was Just Blank, and it didnt work, so when i restart it, it works, i guess windows xp has its own weirdness. dont you think?

  1. It is designed to misbehave, it has more backdoors built in for MS to spy on you than a barn.

Best way is to reinstall, fixing it wastes many many many hours and simply postpones the inevitable!

I installed ubuntu, I only use XP in a virtualbox which I installed on Ubuntu now - today I booted XP to try out the new Chrome browser, but not as my operating system. I always use Ubuntu (XP runs from a 'pretend' hard disk, and if it goes bad, I delete it and copy a backup back to the folder - so easy!)

  2. There could be all sorts of things going on from the symptoms. If you haven't run a full virus scan in a while, you should do that immediately, just to be safe. You also might check how much RAM you have, as running out of memory can be a problem. You might also check your virtual memory. I haven't seen this specific issue related to an automatically resizing pagefile, but it might be worth experimenting. Try changing your dynamic page file to something static and see how that works. And don't rule out the possibility of a hardware problem. If none of the above fix your issue, you might need to clean out your system - I mean physically clean it with compressed air. Good luck!

  3. replace it with mac os x.  no viruses, rarely messes up, mine has never frozen, and its fast.  they have no games though.  except for blizzard games.

  4. Task Manager is another important tool to help figure out what's going on in Windows XP.  Process Explorer ( http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysin... ) is even better for this.

What about virus and spyware? These can also make XP act weird.

  5. you should restore the system

    1. Log on to Windows as Administrator.

    2. Click Start, point to All Programs, point to Accessories, point to System Tools, and then click System Restore. System Restore starts.

    3. On the Welcome to System Restore page, click Restore my computer to an earlier time (if it is not already selected), and then click Next.

    4. On the Select a Restore Point page, click the most recent system checkpoint in the On this list, click a restore point list, and then click Next. A System Restore message may appear that lists configuration changes that System Restore will make. Click OK.

    5. On the Confirm Restore Point Selection page, click Next. System Restore restores the previous Windows XP configuration, and then restarts the computer.

    6. Log on to the computer as Administrator. The System Restore Restoration Complete page appears.

    7. Click OK.
