I was installing a new light fixture in my bathroom above the sink and accidentally shorted the connections in the junction box, where the fixture connects to the line coming out of the wall. I reset the breaker box and the line has power now, but not enough to light a bulb. The line is operated with a dimmer by the door, for those that want to know.

  1. CK THE BRKR BOX FOR A LOOSE COMMON WIRE(WHITE) BET YOUR GETTING AROUND 76VLTS,START TRACKING THE COMMON BACK TO THE BRKR BOX FROM THE GANG BOX(BOX WHERE THE FIXTURE GOS) CK WIRE NUTS AND ALL.BET YOU'LL FIND YOUR PROBLEM THERE.

  2. When you shorted the fixture, you might have damaged the dimmer. I would replace the dimmer switch

  3. You may have shorted out your dimmer switch. Or you may need a new breaker. I can't think of any other reason why you couldn't light a bulb if it has power. Test your voltage between the breaker and dimmer, then between the dimmer and bulb. That should tell you everything you need to know. Good luck

  4. i believe you will find you damaged the dimmer. if you will take out the dimmer and tie the two wires that go to the dimmer together i believe you will see the light will work...

    Replace the dimmer
