Question:

How do i fix a jammed garage door?

I clicked the switch then the chains where going around , but my garage door isnt going up. It's a little up but stay's there wont up up or down so now its open and we cant close. Most inportantly how do we lock it someone could just pull it up and walk in and steal the stuff

  1. what you might  try is pull the cord that releases the door from the chain system,(cord hangs from the rail area)open the door manually,then push the switch so the mechanism with the cord goes back toward the motor and pull the rope and snap it  back into the slot to hook to the door again, once you correct it check for binding,and lubricate the roller areas etc,I hope this gets you going .


  2. i think the chain jumped the sprocket dont you have the regular lock from the garage door

I have only worked with manual doors but I would put my foot on the handle and force it back down, lock the door from the inside with the handle, and then jam a broomstick in the hole in the railing on the side.  Before locking though, I'd check the springs to see if one came loose.  If not, try to raise the door and check to see if the door is catching along the railing somewhere.
