How do i fix my fifth metatarsal bone without putting a cast on?

I would use a surgical shoe.  It has a flat hard sole and helps to keep your foot from flexing.  I used one when I had stress fractures.  If your arch begins to hurt, slide in an arch support.  I did that also.
