How do i fix my itunes???!! :[ :[?

ugh! a couple of months ago, i opened my itunes and it said that i needed to upgrade, so i did. when it was finished i tried to open itunes and it said that itunes was not valid and i needed to re-install itunes. ?!? ok. so, i went to itunes.com and tried to re-install itunes. in the middle of installing something popped up and said : "the older version of Apple Software Update could not be removed. contact your technical support group." ugh!!!! so, i searched through all of the files on my computer, found Apple Software Update and deleted it myself completely off my computer. i tried to re-install it again and it said the exact same thing as before!! i went back to the site and tried to find a phone number for a technical support group but it only had them for the iphones!!! ugh!! i havent listened to my ipod in like 6 months!!!! i feel like im going crazy! please, can anyone help me.! :[

uninstall and re-install.

try downloading an earlier version of iTunes by going to http://www.oldapps.com/itunes.htm and pick the one that you want

Are you sure you removed everything?  

Try going to Start>Control Panel>Add or Remove Programs and make sure there is nothing Apple/iTunes related.  Maybe delete it from your Recycle bin as well.

Then go back to the iTunes website and try again.
