When i removed the aerator on the Kitchen faucet the water comes rushing out. But the little filter in the cap is always black with sediment. after cleaning it, it works a little better for a day or two, but then is filled with sediment again. No other faucet in the house is slow, only this kitchen sink faucet. So what do i need to do? It is the Moen legend faucet with sprayer.

  1. uSE A SCREWDRIVER AND PUG THE DRAIN TO SEE IF THERE IS A CLOT. IF THERE IS, REMOVE IT. THIS IS THE BEST ANSWER.

  2. sounds like you have a lot of stuff in your water line.. Sometimes its a sign of corroded pipes especially if they are older galvanized pipes.  they will continue to  clog the screens so best to replace with copper pipes.  If thats not it, just blow the lines out good by running them in a bucket from the shutoffs, then clean your screens again.  If work was done on the main  dirt and sand could have gotten in.  Also make sure all your outside water has anti siphon devises installed so dirt , ect, doesn't enter from hoses or sprinkler systems.

  3. clean the aerator,  leave it off for a day or two, run the water often,  more than likley flaking from pipes.

  4. as long as you have older galvanized pipe in your system, this will occur.  it can't be helped.

the best thing to do is to flush the water for a moment.  let it run!

every few weeks, remove your aerator, clean it while flushing the hot and cold water separately.
