  1. maybe he means the pedals are more or less deformed... before i had clipless pedals on my MTB, the pedals i had were metal so over time they became misshapen from hiting rocks and roots....if that is the problem get new pedals

  2. I'm guessing but, assuming I understand the issue, it sounds like a bottom bracket issue.  I don't know what type of bottom bracket you have, so it's difficult to be precise. But I assume you either hit something with one of the cranks, forcing it to rotate on the bottom bracket spindle (it was probably already a bit loose), or the cranks became loose and have rotated on the spindle. If you are lucky you can loosen the crank and move it back into place on the spindle ... but more likely you have rounded off the spindle end and/or the crank mounting hole and will need a new bottom bracket and/or at least one crank arm.

Since bottom brackets are designed NOT to do this I can't imagine how you managed ... but, take it to a local bike shop and get a pro opinion.

  3. Do you mean the cranks? I have never heard of this happening - perhaps the bottom bracket spindle is damaged?
