  1. On your 360

In Basic info on your settings

    go down to online status

there will be a yellow smiley face

    if you are on line

    grey if you are not

    In other words check that

    check it or tick it.

The other way is go to your alerts

    you have email

    mailbox

    blog comment

    and messenger

check off the alerts you want to use.

    press save

  2. IF YOU MEAN THE 360 PROFILE:

You show online only when you log into Yahoo! Messenger (or some other Yahoo IM options).

You both have to have Yahoo! Messenger downloaded and you both have to have your Yahoo! 360 Communications Settings set up to allow IM from each other (i.e. make sure that the group selected includes the person you are trying to IM).

    - Click your "Settings" link at the top of your 360 page

    - Click your "Communications Settings" link on the left side

    - Scroll down to the Yahoo Messenger settings and enable them for the group that includes the person you are trying to allow IM from (see your "My Friends" page to make sure, if you aren't making it "Everyone in 360").

    - Click the "Save" button

Now, they can IM you from several spots. The smiley icon is next to your name in your Contact list on the "Home" page, under your in your "Latest from friends and favorites" area on the "Home" page, under your pic in your "Friends" module, and under your profile pic on their 360 page.

    See http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/360/hom... for more details.

If you still show offline in 360 when logged into Messenger, make sure that the invisibility option is unchecked in your 360

Communication settings, in your Yahoo ID account settings (click My Account or Members Center at the top of the page while logged in, provide your password, click "Edit/Create Profiles" on the right, make sure the "hide online status" option is unchecked on that page), and that any stealth settings are not in effect in your Yahoo Messenger (i.e. don't log in as invisible and make sure individual stealth settings are turned off - see http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/messeng... for details).

IF YOU MEAN THE Y/A PROFILE:

Click the "My Profile" to the upper right of this Yahoo! Answers page, then click "Edit My Info" in the top left box on the Answers profile page. Scroll down to the Privacy section and select the option "Allow Answers users to contact me via Yahoo! Messenger". Click Preview button and then the Ok button.

If it doesn't work (it has been a buggy feature) or the option is missing, put a full link in your "About Me" section.

    - Click "My Page"

    - Click the drop down menu "Preview as seen by" at the top right of your 360 "My Page".

    - Choose PUBLIC as the permission group and click the "Go" button

    - Click the "Top Page" link above your personal profile picture section on the left side.

    - Select & copy the FULL web address that appears in your web browser's address bar (starting from the http:// part)

    - Paste the address in your Y/A profile's "About Me" section with a space following it. If you have a Simple URL setup, use that instead. Make sure A SPACE follows the address.

The feature to display a 360 link is usually blocked to users who are under age 18. But it is also just a glitch for others.

  3. Your profile is already set to show your Y!M status and members with the same setting can IM you.

To review or edit your communications settings:

        * Sign in and click the My Q&A tab located to the right of the search box.

        * Click the Edit My Info link in your profile module.
