I installed a tp link adapter thing and everything was working fine but then i got a virus and had to do a pc recovery. I re-installed the tp link and its working fine but it wont connect to the internet, the little wireless comp screen thing in my taskbar says 'limited or no connectivity' and also apparently it couldnt locate a network or ip address. When i do a command prompt it says my dhcp is enabled and so is my autoconfig and it shows my subnet mask but says nothing about my ip, network or dns and my default gateway is missing so WTF?

  1. you may need to reconnect to your network

  2. First run the command ipconfig in your command prompt. then do the following.  Your default gateway would only show up if you were connected to a router. That would be the routers address, where you could access its settings. Viruses often infect routers. You will want to first go to your router and make sure it is on and all the wires are in correctly. Also, if you use a modem, make sure that is working. If both of these are on try connecting your laptop directly into the router using an Ethernet cable. They sell them at radioshack and frys, and stores of that sort. You probably already own one. If that doesnt work, you will need to unplug your router from the electricity, same with your modem (again only if you have one, some routers are built in modems).  Plug it back in after waiting a minute, then Try to connect again. Settings should still be the same. If THAT doesnt work then your virus leaked to your router, and you will need to reset it. there will be a reset button on your router, so find the appropriate tool (paperclip or w/e) and reset your router. there will be only the default settings. You may need your manual to re-set your router up. To prevent getting viruses again I recommend the free tools such as AVG 8, Spybot S&D, because these are both very good and reliable. And free. No one dislikes free. Hope this helps :)

  3. Turn of your modem and back on again then reboot your computer
