  1. If you are just going to install Windows XP, chances are there will be 2 operating systems on the machine, so you have to be careful when doing the installation.

Usually, if you put the WinXP disc into ur computer and have it turned off, when you turn it on, it will enter BOOT mode (otherwise, you would have to select option such as boot from disc, etc...). Then you will find an option that ask you to select a DISK to install ur new OS, or Delete the OS on a certain disk. You should choose delete, then install. Data will probly be deleted and the system is brand new. But just to make sure, delete most data in documents or desktop, clear ur recycle bin, then reinstall Windows. GL

  2. Boot off of a DOS 1 disk.

    Exit out of set up.

at the c: prompt type a:

at the a prompt type format C: /s/q/u/v

    hit enter.

    type y when asked

    format will then run.

  3. you got it.

you obviously cant format the drive when ure pc is loaded as the drive is in use.

you need to turn on the pc and either go into the bios or press the key to change the boot sequence from H.drive to optical drive,

insert the Cd and the pc will say press a key to boot from cd,if not it will then move on to the H.drive and load windows as normally.

so then u press a key to boot from cd,windows will insepect ure h.drive etc and ask say a partition already has windows on it,just use that and it will ask you to format, do that and it will then install windows on the new partition.

bare in mind that windows will install all drives it can for the Pc,but some cases not.

so before hand i would go to the website of the motherboard manufacturer and d.load all the drivers u need,IE intergrated G.card, onboard sound card drives, lan etc.

still them on a usb pen or disk, then then when u have installed windows look in device manager to see if there are any items that are crossed or exlamation marked as windows may not have had the drivers for them,if not then just load the ones of the pen, disk.OR if ure internet works d.load them.
