Question:

How do i gain more confidence and lose my anxiety

I used to be a swimmer and had no problem with beign the center of atttention and giving speeches. well some things happened and i had to leave my college so i felt like i failed. Now at my new school i get rely bad anxiety whenever i have to go in front of the class. and i have been wanting to get back in to pool but i am terrified. I get nervous when ppl look at me, i tend to stay home all the time out of fear. I used to be on medication but i didnt like the effects. does anyone have any ways to over come this that dont include medication?

    I started out taking prozac 20mg daily.. then it dropped to 10mg and now I am just taking 5mg and still doing very well. I might be considering taking medication off my life.

  2. For starters you can meditate. Or yoga. lol. But things like jogging or going out with friends are best to get rid of anxiety. To build your confidence say things like "i can do it", or just have a go.

  3. There's this book I read that is really a great book and helped me overcome insecurity and anxiety, as well. It's called "How to Stop Worrying and Start Living" by Dale Carnegie. This along with therapy and a different medication such as Pacsol should do help you a lot. Note: with this medication you should start with 20 mL and not go past 40 mL.

  4. Wish I could help, I never was good at being in front of people either. Many people get nervous giving speeches in front of people. So you're not alone on that if it makes you feel any better.  

  5. I encounter the same as you do. I used to earn a lot doing shipping and when I decided to switch job for better pay, I developed anxiety/panic disorder. I quit my recent job and mostly at home. Though doctors give me Laxton to take, I don't depend on it unless need to.

    You should start taking a walk everyday with a close friend or family member cause if you stay home too much, it may lead to depression. Believe me, I encounter all these. And hey, the site given by Johnny works for me, you should give it a try. And pls start going out, take a walk at least, it does works for me! Good luck.
