I am in the process of creating a website? how do I create traffic? I heard someone say of meta or beta tags?

Check the source code of your website and near the top you'll see the "head" tags.  This is where the metatags go and consist of keywords, description, title, etc.  Do a google search for "free metatag generator" and you'll receive instructions on how to place them in the source code.  

But understand that using metatags isn't your answer to search engine optimization.  It helps, but there are a lot of other factors go into getting your site to perform well.  You need to have great content (text) on your main page and links that allow bots to move freely through your site (which includes "home" links on each page).  

It also helps to submit your site to http://google.com/addurl to get some google bots to crawl your site regularly.  Getting as many hard links that aren't buried on a company's links.htm page helps, and is probably one of the biggest factors.  You can submit your personal or business website to http://directorix.net for a free hard link, among other sites.  Hope this helps.

There are so many ways to generate the traffic.

Search engine optimization (SEO) is your starting point for getting traffic. After all, Google has to "like" your web pages, and people have to be able to find them. All SEO means is making your pages human and Google friendly.

Your website needs seo friendly search engines. The first criterion (often overlooked) is to have great content! Your goal is to build traffic. Why would anyone even want to come to your website if there's nothing interesting there to see?

There is no magic formula to get organic traffic to your site. You should work for it with heart and soul. It appears that you are new to website marketing (Meta or Beta Tags).  Before starting your website, do a thorough research on Industry related keywords. There are few tools which can help www.wordtracker.com , www.keyworddiscovery.com and they offer a free key word research. Another easy method is to identify your competitor and get the keywords from their Meta Tags. But this is not recommended as your competitor maynot have researched the keywords properly. Once you have decided the keywords, write content for your website with about a keyword density of 2-5% . Your content should be keyword rich but please avoid keyword stuffing. Name your files/folders based on the keywords. ie Instead of naming a folder as "file1" use "monkeys" if your site is related to monkeys.  Have the Meta Tags done and optimize the content , images (provide keyword related image names) and files.

Generating traffic depends on your website niche and utilizing the effective strategies from time to time. For eg. reciprocal links and 3 way links were considered the important factor at one time, but you may get penalized for that now.  I can recommend the following steps based on our success.
