Question:

How do i get Mommie cat to stop hissing at her 6 month old kittens?

I need peace in my home,But my mommie cat just started to hiss at her kittens i know she's trying to break away from them but their not feeding on her they stopped that at 5 weeks.They all just been spayed and neuter,,So whats wrong now how do i get her to stop without having to give my kittens away or even her,Will there be peace again?Please help.A very sad cat owner

  1. Momma cat is just telling her kittens its time to leave. I still have my momma cat and her 4 kittens, she got used to them hanging around after they were all spayed and neutered, just give it time they will get used to each other!!


  2. I think they will eventually establish a pecking order, I wouldn't give up on your kitties quite so soon. Especially since they have all been fixed

  3. When a cat is fixed, their scent changes. Not drastically, of course, but enough so that it can be difficult for other cats to recognize them be scent. This confuses cats, because they may know them by looks, but they don't smell right.

    Plus your mum cat is probably telling the kittens it's time to grow up and not come running to mummy every time they need comfort. Even if they have stopped suckling her, they still come to mum when frightened, hurt, or just sulky, much like human children. She's trying to make them more independent. It won't take them long to get the message, and there will be peace in the household once more.
