ive just bought a ps3 and connected it via HD. Unfortunately my tv has DVI hd connectors not HDMI . The only difference is dvi has speperate sound cables so ive been advised to buy a sepaerate connection from ps3 to surround system using a digital cable.

When on PS3 set up it says its detected HD and would i like to use it with audio and video.

I select yes

I get a perfect picture but no sound.

I go BACK to the ps3 config and this time i select NO

I then get the audio thru my speakers but no pic.

How do i get both together?

Obviously the ps3 is designed for surround sound systems otherwise it wouldnt have the optical cable port

  1. I can probably answer your question, but first, I need a little more info.  Specifically, what type of cables are you using to connect your PS3 to your surround sound receiver, and then what cables are you using to connect your surround sound receiver to your TV.  What type of receiver is it?  How many speakers are hooked up to it?

  2. you should check out this site where you can get a playstation 3 for free (hey, that rhymes!)
