How do i get a DVD to play on my computer?

Question

I have a video camera and I transfer all my vidoes onto a dvd via the VCR. When i try to play the DVD in the computer it says something about a codec and it won't play the DVD.

Is there a program that allows you to play DVD's

You need a dvd drive. Then just put in the disk and away you go! If it doesn't start automatically go into My Computer and click on the relevant drive. Your hard drive is c and usually you would have a cd drive that would be d so it would probably be e. Hope this helps

you need to search the web for the proper codec so the computer will play it. different formats use different codecs, or convert your files to another format that your computer already can use

The first thing you need to do is make sure that you have a DVD drive installed in your computer.

Download VLC media player from the following link and you will be able to play the DVD.

Select your location form the above link an download it and then install the program.

You'll need to get a disc drive that reads DVDs. Most laptops and computers have them already built in but you should be able to buy them separately at any decent computer store

try and use vlc media player it plays every type of video format and dvds it even plays hd film trailers

ffdshow had codecs for more or less all formats

All so, you didn't mention if you camcorder is hd???

if so you will need a dvd drive that can read hd content
