Take it apart and take it out 1 piece at a time.

if its cast, and it probably is, you can bust it up with a sledge hammer. if you decide to take this route I would suggest a face shield and some ear plugs. good luck!

Ya know that's a good question.

My dad built a house in Illinois (1951) and our tank was under the front porch.I have never really thought of it till you mentioned it.Thinking back perhaps demo the concrete that was the porch (roof),other than that I couldn't say.

Assuming it won't go out whole, you will have to empty it, then cut it to fit out the door.  Use a reciprocating saw with hearing and eye protection.  Be prepared for a lot of work and strong smell.  Avoid spilling the sludge at the bottom of the tank.

Empty it and get your torch with a cutting tip and dismantle it.You can sell the metal as scrap.Good luck.
