How do i get a birth certificate of my Mother who has passed away?

Im 18 and i need it for personal purposes. Her copy was ruined long before she passed and i have no idea how or if i even CAN get a copy. Information would help?

  1. If you know the town she was born in, they keep documents there. Also you can ck with the state she was born in, they also have the documents you are looking for. There is a fee and they mail you out copies, if she has passed away you should get about 6 copies from them, for closing out of her things, everyone wants the original copy, not copies that you could make of it. They need the seal on them for Banking, bills, that sort of thing. Sorry for your loss. Sue
